Hi everyone

In this section of the website please humour me as I indulge myself with guitar talk and putting up little instrumentals and demos. You can ask any questions you like. I can give you a few tips you how things are played on Angels stuff if you’re interested, and explain what gear I used.

Mostly though I am back on the les Pauls (not new ones- go for a good 70’s one, pre 75 if you can find one). I always bang the biggest possible frets into them, have a high action and take out the tone pots. I use mostly AC30’s sometimes a Plexi (old Marshall) and for some early Angels stuff a Marshall JCM 800. Effects are minimal- mostly Tube screamer and a wah, and an old Ibanez graphic which drives the amp very hard. I run the amps flat out and they do blow up often. The clean sounds are me turning the guitar down – amp stays on full. Do not confuse my vox’s with modern ones which are truly awful. Pick ups are old and definitely not active I never use effects loop or channel switching. Sound comes from your fingers and your soul- It has to be earned- not bought in a shop!
